  • SBSD Budget Roadshow

We believe it is important for all Solana Beach School District stakeholders to know how the District receives its funding, expends funds, and makes spending decisions. Beginning in early November, a work group comprised of district administrators, principals, teachers, parents, and union leadership began meeting to review the District’s budget components. The purpose of these meetings is to foster understanding which promotes clear and transparent communication regarding the District’s fiscal resources.

This work group is gearing up to present this material to our community in a series of “Budget Roadshow” forums. These discussions will be held throughout the District at various school sites. Please find the dates and locations for the upcoming meetings below:

Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at Solana Santa Fe School

Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at Solana Pacific School

Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at Solana Ranch School

Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at Skyline School

  • Solana Vista Community and Staff Engagement Meetings:

At the January 17, 2019, regularly scheduled meeting, the Solana Beach School District Board of Education directed staff to engage the Solana Vista School staff and community members in consideration of a single-story school site, which will be shared at upcoming engagement meetings. The proposed design addresses the challenges of parity with other Solana Beach School District facilities, honoring green space for facility use, while bearing in mind traffic flow in and out of the school site.

Two engagement meeting dates have been scheduled:

Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the District Office Board Room, and

Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. in the Solana Vista School Kiva

  • Carmel Valley Community Meeting Information

On Thursday, November 1 at 6:00pm, Board President, Dr. Schade, Board Member, Ms. King, Superintendent Brentlinger, and staff will be at Solana Ranch School to share information regarding short- and long-term decisions regarding student attendance assignments in Pacific Highlands Ranch. The Board has been deliberating on this topic for over 18 months in preparation for what they thought would be a building phase-in of homes extending out to the year 2030. As you may have noticed, Pardee Homes has accelerated this timeline and expect to complete these neighborhoods as early as 2023. Thus, it has created the need to develop short- and long-term options for students and families much earlier than ever anticipated. Please click here to view the presentation slides.
