Terry Decker joined the Solana Beach School District in 2012 as the Director of Instruction and Educational Technology. In 2013, he became the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services. Terry assumed the role of Superintendent on July 1, 2015.
With over 35 years of experience in education, Terry has worked at the school site, district, and county levels in positions ranging from teacher to superintendent. Terry began his career as a teacher in the suburbs of Philadelphia before moving to San Diego in 1982. Since that time, he served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, coordinator, director, and assistant superintendent. Prior to coming to Solana Beach, Terry worked in the Oceanside Unified School District and at the San Diego County Office of Education.
Terry received his Bachelors of Science degree from West Chester University in Pennsylvania and earned his Master of Arts degree from San Diego State University. Terry and his wife have one daughter, two Labrador Retrievers, and two cats.
