SBSD Proactive COVID-19 Testing Program

  • Our Board of Education approved a proactive COVID-19 Testing Program for students and staff on September 10, 2020, as we prepare to welcome back Onsite Scholars (students) and staff to campuses the week of September 21. While the program may not mandate testing for students, we strongly recommend student participation. View the entire Board presentation for September 10, 2020, here.

In partnership with UC San Diego Health, we will offer districtwide proactive testing to increase the likelihood of our classrooms and campuses remaining open. Please note that this partnership is not a research or clinical study. During the 2020-21 school year, testing will take place upon re-entry to campuses (fall/winter) and periodic asymptomatic testing in fall, winter, and spring.

Testing Pre-Registration: By 6 p.m., September 12

  • In order to facilitate an expedient SBSD onsite testing experience, parents/guardians are required to pre-register their child(ren) by 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12.

    Pre-register here.

Registrations received after 6 p.m. will be asked to pursue their testing at a UC San Diego Health drive-through clinic, unless we are able to accommodate families at a SBSD testing site later in the week.

The information requested in the pre-registration form is necessary to connect parents/guardians to a minor’s electronic medical record and comply with all health privacy regulations.

Testing: September 15-17, 2020

  • For parents/guardians who pre-register their child(ren) by Saturday at 6:00 p.m., testing will be available at SBSD sites for the convenience of families:

    • Tuesday, September 15 - Skyline and Solana Vista students test at Skyline Theater
    • Wednesday, September 16  - Solana Ranch and Solana Santa Fe students test at Solana Ranch Multi-purpose Room
    • Thursday, September 17 - Carmel Creek, Solana Highlands, and Solana Pacific students test at Solana Pacific Theater

Testing schedules will be sent out Monday, September 14. Students, accompanied by a parent/guardian, will be scheduled for UC San Diego Health technicians to administer the PCR (Anterior Nares) nasal swab test (gentle).

Parents/guardians and employees will receive test results via a secure private portal from UC San Diego Health within 24-72 hours.
