Meet Mrs. Hamilton
Hello and welcome to room 215! I have been teaching at Skyline for 19 years now, and I absolutely love it! Fifth grade is an awesome year! We read many exciting books and study interesting units in science and social studies, such as the solar system and the founding of our country. In math, we kick it up a few notches, diving deeper into decimals, fractions, and algebra. You will be so proud of how much you've learned by the end of the year!
Before I was a teacher, I was a veterinary technician for 10 years. If you aren't quite sure what a vet tech is, I can best describe it as a nurse for animals. Yes, I would give animals shots, draw blood, take x-rays, and help the doctor during surgeries. I have been an animal lover since I was a little girl. I used to spend hours on end studying all the different breeds of dogs, cats, and horses in the encyclopedia.
Speaking of animals, I have three cats of my own. Larry is a gray feral cat that adopted us three years ago. He has adapted quite well to the domesticated lifestyle. Over the summer, we adopted two kittens. Finn is an orange tabby. He is a communicative, bossy little guy who gets himself into trouble with his curiosity about everything. Stewie is a sweet, playful gray tabby who has endless energy. Lucky for us, all three cats have become friends quite quickly.
Now on to the important people in my life! My husband's name is Kevin and I have two step-kids; Lauren is 18 years old and went off to start her first year in college this August. Garrett is 20 years old and a Marine. He is currently in Miramar, finishing up flight training. As a family, we have a lot of fun together. We enjoy playing cards, going to the movies, traveling, and camping, especially in the desert.
Well, enough about me. I can't wait to get to know you this school year!
