• Dear Students and Parents,

Hello, my name is Mary Tucker and I’m very excited to be your child's fourth grade teacher. This is my 21st year teaching and more specifically my 19th year at Skyline School.  At Skyline I have taught sixth, fifth, and fourth grade; therefore I am in an excellent position to support your child's diverse academic goals.  Please know I will be focusing on teaching the California State Standards in both math and language arts.  Further, I’ll be incorporating NGSS-STEM based science lessons, Lucy Calkins writing strategies, and embedding technology across the curriculum.

Socially, I will work diligently to create a warm, positive atmosphere of politeness, kindness, self-responsibility and respect for all.  To accomplish this goal, I will be holding weekly character education meetings using Social and lEmotional Learning (SEL) strategies as well as regular class problem solving meetings to foster student acceptance and social responsibility.  Lastly, I will be using our “Three Personal Standards” model to shape positive student behavior.

On a personal note, I am an outgoing, fun-loving, Southern California native and I have been happily married for 18 years.  We have an awesome 15 year old son who attends high school near our home.  In my spare time, I enjoy family gatherings, movies, shopping and baking. As a family, we love everything outdoors from biking, hiking, camping and beach days, to visits at amusement parks.  Teaching is such a wonderful vocation and I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in the shaping of the lives of children.  Truly, it’s a wonderful challenge and by the end of each year I strive to have created a positive impact and  connection with all of my students and their families.

Here’s to an excellent year ahead. Please let me know if there is some other piece of information you would like to know about me.

My FamilyJosh and Joe My Family
