    Dear Solana Highlands Families,

    Announcing…Teacher of the Year!

I'd like to take this time to congratulate two teachers who were voted our employees of the Year. The first represents the certificated staff. This teacher was described by colleagues as a lifelong learner who is continually learning and always looking for ways to improve what is best for students. This teacher supports staff with assessments and teaching strategies and is simply caring, involved, and well-loved by all. Congratulations Mrs. Vilsack!!

Our second teacher represents the classified staff. This teacher is described by colleagues as eager to tackle whatever is needed. This person is described as the “The calm in the storm”, happy, kind, and well-liked, who always goes above and beyond, supporting and assisting with technology, student relations, and more. Congratulations Mr. Triplett!!

Mrs. Vilsack and Mr. Triplett we could not be prouder of the both of you! This is very well-deserved recognition. Thank you both for your commitment to students, your positive energy, and your self-driven desire to learn, reflect, and give so much of yourself to us. We are the lucky ones. Congratulations!

SV/SH/SKY Interim Housing for the 2020-21 School Year

Thursday night at the Solana Beach School District Board of Education meeting, the Board, including new Board member Dana King, reviewed Options A and B regarding Solana Vista Interim Housing. When the vote was taken, it was a unanimous vote to approve the motion for Interim Housing Option A. Option A proposes housing Kindergarten through 2nd graders at Solana Highlands and 3rd grade students at Skyline. With a 5 - 0 vote of the Board, the motion passed. We are excited by this decision and look forward to working together with staff and parents as we plan out a successful transition for the 2020-2021 school year.

    Message from Superintendent Jodee Brentlinger

This is superintendent Jodee Brentlinger, and I have an important message for our Solana Beach School community. In alignment with Los Angeles Unified School District, San Diego Unified School District, and local districts from around San Diego County, the Solana Beach School District is providing preliminary notice of school closure for the entire district beginning Monday, March 16. This decision is in an abundance of caution and not due to any new information of increased risk or threat. We will provide more information later today.

Our highest priority is the health and safety of our students, families, staff and community.

    Jodee Brentlinger

    Superintendent

    Warmly,

    Shawntanet Jara
