    Dear Solana Highlands Families,

Happy New Year! May you all enjoy a peaceful, joyful 2020!

Please welcome Kristin Buros, Solana Highlands’ new guidance counselor!

Mrs. Buros will be teaming up with Mrs. R to support the social-emotional components of your children’s educational program. We are so happy to have on board! She will be acting as additional support at recess and lunch as well as working directly with teachers. Please read her brief introduction below.

My name is Kristin Buros and I will be joining the Solana Highlands team as a school counselor.  I spent my first two days on campus this week and am already feeling inspired by the students and staff.  Kindness, leadership, creativity, and courage are in abundance here and I can’t wait to contribute to this exceptional learning environment.  My role is to assist with the social and emotional development of your children and to help them know, undoubtedly, that they are capable learners with unique strengths. There are so many great concepts to explore under the counseling umbrella - from helping students learn to take ownership of their choices and problem solve with confidence, to teaching them skills to contemplate alternative perspectives and build positive relationships.  I will be at Solana Highlands on Mondays and Tuesdays and look forward to meeting everyone!  There are some wonderful minds and hearts on this campus and I thank you in advance for allowing me to spend time with your kids.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up

A big thank you to everyone for keeping our morning drop-off and pick-up procedures peaceful and smooth-running. Just a couple of reminders:

    • Red No parking. Please avoid parking on a Red curb, this is also considered a NO STOPPING or NO STANDING zones in conjunction with the appropriate signs. Red is also used to designate fire lanes at schools.
    • To ensure that the Solana Highland’s staff has a parking space, please avoid park in the “staff only” parking lot.

13th Annual Dolphin Dash happening on January 31st. Look for information from Room Parents regarding our annual Dolphin Dash. This is a Solana Beach Schools Foundation fundraiser and a fun day for all the classes!
