• Principal's Message

    Week of September 8, 2019

    Hello Skyline Families,

Thank you for joining us this past Thursday for Back to School Night.  It was nice to see everyone together learning about the new school year and what is to come.  I very much appreciate your warm welcome.  The staff and I look forward to working together with all our families as a team.  Go Otters!

Last week, I started morning announcements right after the bell.  I am using a program called Project Wisdom.  The announcements are meant to be thought provoking by encouraging students to reflect upon the meaning of civic and personal values and the application of those values in their daily lives.  Each message is tied to a larger monthly theme.  The messages are based on important historical figures and there is always a quote tied to the message.  Additionally, the morning announcements will help us share important updates with students and staff in a timely manner.

In addition to the morning announcements we have initiated our Outstanding Otter NotesThese are notes that can be given from one student to another, from staff to student or from student to staff.  The purpose of the note is to recognize the thoughtful actions our students perform every day.   Last week a student went out of his way to open the door for me when my hands were full.  Another student volunteered to move his seat in order to help a classmate.  And even another student picked up trash unsolicited, when she was waiting to enter school one morning.  These acts of kindness, stewardship, and thoughtfulness are what make our school great and we want to recognize our students and ensure these behaviors continue.  Please feel free to contact me if you know of any efforts our students are participating in outside of school that deserve recognition.
