If you have found my page, thank you for looking! I have been the speech/language pathologist (SLP) at Solana Vista School for 14 years (and counting)! I have enjoyed every minute of my time here and LOVE my job. I feel so blessed to be part of such a wonderful staff and sweet, cheerful, hardworking students.
I received my bachelor's degree from UCSD in 1997 in Linguistics and then my master's degree in 2000 from San Diego State Univeristy in Communicative Disorders. I completed my thesis in the area of bilingual speech sound development and therapy approaches aimed at finding the most effective treatment targets for therapy with bilingual students, based on what we already knew about sound development with monolingual English speakers.
I have been afforded the opportunity to also have my own two children attend school here. What a wonderful thing! My daughter, Lindsay, is currently in kindergarten with the amazing Natalie Ochoa. My son is in 5th grade and thinks Mike Bentz is the best teacher in the whole world. I love how much my own children love learning and am happy to have them in Solana Beach each day. My husband, Mark, and I have been married for almost 16 years now and love to spend time together when we can, but our children's sports activities, commute to school each day, and our opposite work schedules (he works nights and weekend :( ) makes that challenging at times. But, we have found that absence makes the heart grow fonder and we cherish the times that we do find for our family together.
