Class Descriptions
CARTOONING: We keep it simple and silly as kids draw with easy to follow step-by-step instructions. Students will quickly learn how to draw all sorts of different cartoons. They will learn basic cartooning skills and how to bring inanimate objects to life and as well as bring sill personalities to everyday living creatures. Students will also learn more each day about what they are drawing. Subjects vary each session and class. From sea creatures to geometric shapes, the opportunities are endless; including the fun!
CHESS: We bring the ancient and amazing game of chess to life! Our story-based lessons are tailored to the skill level of the students, meaning all chess levels are welcome! In each class, children receive a dynamic lesson followed by chess playing time when they can practice what they have learned and make new friends! Chess teaches many life skills, including sportsmanship, patience, strategic thinking, planning ahead, and learning from your losses. The session will end with a fun tournament where students have the opportunity to win trophies and prizes!
LEGO ARCHITECTURE: Lego Architecture will allow students the opportunity to explore some of the most amazing architectural ideas from around the world and through history by building with LEGO. Simple architectural concepts will be introduced to the students at each meeting, and the children will design and build structures with LEGO inspired by the historical examples and better building techniques detailed and explained by your fun coach! The session will end with the children showcasing the concepts they learned over the course of the class.
LEGO ENGINEERING: Kids love machines and will love creating their own in LEGO Engineering. Students will work hands-on with LEGO encouraging a basic understanding of a wide variety of engineering concepts. Students will develop their fine motor skills, learn the value of organization, participate in teamwork activities and develop other life skills such as problem-solving and keeping a positive attitude! Through LEGO Engineering courses, students will discover simple engineering concepts by engaging in fun activities and guided play with an emphasis on creating!
LEGO STORYTELLING: LEGO Storytelling uses LEGO to give children a solid understnading of basic storytelling concepts such as developing settings, working with characters, creating plots, understanding dramatic conflict, and identifying themes. These ideas will be applied using a wide variety of story prompts meant to inspire exciting LEGO builds and creative sotry lines. Children will have the ability to enhance their speaking skills and confidence when they are encouraged to share their reative tales with their classmates.
STRATEGIC MAGIC: Illusionists use a combination of technique and showmanship to create a great performance and this fun class will help students to create their own great magic showcase! By learning and practicing magic techniques in preparation for the showcase, students will learn performance and public speaking skills that encourage increased confidence in a fun way! During each meeting, students will learn and build new magic tricks, perfect their routines and practice performing in front of the class. Students will enjoy using their creativity and presentation skills while learning to customize their magic routines for their audience.
STRATEGIC ORIGAMI: A simple piece of paper can become an adventure! In this engaging and exciting class, children will fold their way to a deeper understanding of the Japanese art of Origami and related Japanese culture. Origami focuses on helping children to think deeply, gain confidence, solve problems, develop patience, and visualize results hile they learn about shapes and geometry. During each class, students will receive an origami instruction sheet detailing what was covered in class that day to take home with their completed projects.
STRATEGIC SPORTS: Engage in friendly competition with Strategic Sports, where students delve into a variety of activities promoting teamwork and active lifestyles. They'll master traditional sports fundamentals like basketball, soccer, baseball, hockey, and football in dynamic, fun ways. Our environment fosters athletic excellence while instilling values of sportsmanship.
