Solana Ranch Elementary: “Inspiring Greatness in Tomorrow's Leaders!”

    Dear Families,

I feel very fortunate to be the principal of Solana Ranch. This is my 25 year in education, 8 years as a teacher and 17 years as an administrator. Twenty of these memorable years have been within our amazing Solana Beach School District; and I could not feel more fortunate. It is an honor to be in a school district that provides such a well-rounded education for its students.

Of course, to be a great school requires support from parents. The value that our families place on education, their volunteering and contributions to the PTO and Foundation, is a most important ingredient to the success of our school. It is my passion to work with our Solana Ranch families as we continuously strive to create an educational Utopia for our students.  This does not mean that everything is perfect for our students; and we do not want it to be.  We want our students to develop a growth mindset, resiliency and grit.  We want them to learn from mistakes and failures, and develop both the IQ and EQ traits and skills to be successful and fufilled leaders; now and in the future!

Our mission at Solana Ranch is to inspire greatness in tomorrow’s leaders by providing a dynamic learning environment where all students maximize their potential intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. At Solana Ranch, we want our students to be great by receiving the skills that they need for college and career. We will do this in a multitude of ways, but the foundation that we will draw from is “The Leader in Me” school-wide model, based on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. By teaching students these habits, which will be woven throughout students’ day, we will create not just great students, but also great citizens with great character.

Our school will nurture the growth of all students’ unique and special gifts by fostering academic success and independence, encouraging a love of learning, and celebrating every child’s individual talents. Our staff, in conjunction with our families and community, strive to create a rigorous and nurturing school environment that is focused on creating the leaders of tomorrow.
I’m looking forward to another special and memorable year together.

    Sincerely,
    Jerry Jones
