Music lessons at Carmel Creek and Skyline are full of educational hands-on activities and fun opportunities to perform music in an ensemble setting. Instruments, like those pictured above, are played by the students to facilitate, and accompany, quality music experiences while reinforcing a deeper understanding of basic music concepts. Students participate in:
    •  half an hour of general music class instruction per week
    •  one grade-level music performance per school year
    •  a comprehensive music curriculum utilizing, among other approaches,
        the Orff-Schulwerk approach to music education . . .
Orff-Schulwerk is a music teaching approach developed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. Orff and Keetman believed that learning about music, to hear and to move to music, to sing and play music, to understand and create music, should be an active and joyful experience available to all children. Visit the San Diego American Orff-Schulwerk Association (SDAOSA) website for info on how to attend SDAOSA workshops for adults and to learn more about this creative approach to music.
