It is hard to believe that we are already in May, and that we have less than five weeks of school remaining! Our third graders are getting very excited, and a bit sad, as they prepare to move on to Skyline. They have begun preparing and practicing for the Third Grade Play, The Emperor’s New Clothes, and will have four performances (June 4th at 11:00 am, June 5th at 11:00 am and June 6th at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm). You are all invited to attend one of these great performances, even if you don’t have a 3rd grader.

 

If you do have a 3rd grader, please be aware that the principal of Skyline, Lisa Denham, will be hosting a Principal’s Coffee this Friday, May 17th from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Media Center for parents of incoming 4th graders. She hopes to see you there! In addition, there will be a parent orientation meeting for incoming 4th parents at Skyline in the Media at 5:30 pm on May 24th.

 

This is a very busy time of the year, and I would like to highlight a few of the upcoming important events:

• PTA Meeting: May 31st at 9:00 am at Skyline
  
  
• Memorial Day: May 28th (No School)
  
  
• Dad’s Club Ice Cream Social: June 1st at 2:45 pm
  
  
• Last Site Council Meeting of the year on June 7th
  
  
• Volunteer Tea: June 8th at 1:30 pm
  
  
• PTA End of the Year Picnic at Skyline: June 13th at 5:30 pm
  
  
• Last Day of School: June 15th (minimum day with dismissal at 12:05 pm)

Also a reminder that there is still time to sign up for our summer enrichment classes that will be held at Skyline and Carmel Creek. There are some great opportunities to explore science, math, writing, and art, as well as classes to help prepare students for the upcoming school year. To view all of the courses being offered, click on the Summer Enrichment Program link above. All registration is due by June 8th. After June 8th you must register in person at the school site on the first day of school on June 25, 2012. Late registration will take place on June 25, 26, 27.
