Mr. Jordan Einbinder

Welcome to Mr. Einbinder's 5th class at Solana Ranch Elementary.

I am so excited for the new school year.  This is my 5th year teaching at Solana Ranch Elementary. Prior to teaching at Solana Ranch, I taught 4th and 5th grade for 14 years at Mission Bay Montessori Academy in the University City area of San Diego.

I am a Southern California native, growing up in Orange County, and moving to San Diego 19 years ago, following my wife Danielle Hammerman. We have been married since 2000, and my son Aron is an 8th grader at Pacific Trails Middle School. I am an alum from University of California, Santa Cruz where I studied literature, and have a Master's degree in American History.

One special experience in my life was serving in the United States Peace Corps in a small rain forest village in Gabon, Africa. In Africa I taught fish farming, and learned an appreciation for the diverse beliefs and ways of life of different people in our world. I also learned to speak French, and gained a horrible itch to travel and see the world.

When not teaching, I enjoy the outdoors, surfing, playing tennis, and camping and backpacking with my family. Some of you may know that I also like to cook, which I find relaxing and creative - but really I like to eat well!! Another love of mine is reading, a summer luxury for teachers. Though my favorite authors vary, Isabelle Allende is always near the top of my list;  one of my favorite summer reads this summer was the fantasy novel Hero of Ages, the third in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series.

I believe learning should be exciting and fun, yet challenging! I hope to foster independence, creativity and kindness. As a class we will seek to embrace challenges, employing a 'Growth Mindset' by appreciating struggles and learning from setbacks. We’ll create projects, solve probelms, collaborating in teams and hopefully taking pride in our work.

I look forward to working as a team with parents, students and fellow Solana Ranch staff to ensure a rich year of learning and growth.

Sincerely,

Jordan Einbinder
