Mr. Jordan Einbinder

Welcome to Mr. Einbinder's class at Solana Ranch Elementary.

I am so excited for the new school year.  This is my 9th year teaching at Solana Ranch Elementary. Prior to teaching at Solana Ranch, I taught 4th and 5th grade for 14 years at Mission Bay Montessori Academy in the University City area of San Diego.

I am a Southern California native, growing up in Orange County. I moved to San Diego 23 years ago, following my wife Danielle Hammerman. We have been married since 2000, and our son Aron is an 12th grader at Canyon Crest Academy. I am an alum of University of California, Santa Cruz where I studied literature, and have a Master's degree in American History.

One special experience in my life was serving in the United States Peace Corps, in a small rain forest village in Gabon, Africa. In Africa I taught fish farming, and also learned a great appreciation for the diverse beliefs and ways of life in our world. I also learned to speak French, and gained a wonderful itch to travel and see the world.

When not teaching, I enjoy the outdoors, surfing, playing tennis, and camping and backpacking with my family. Some of you may know that I also like to cook, which I find relaxing and creative - but really I like to eat well!! Another love of mine is reading, a summer luxury for teachers. Though my favorite authors vary, Isabelle Allende is always near the top of my list;  two of my favorite summer reads this summer were Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead, and Akin by Emma Donoghue.

I believe learning should be exciting and fun, and challenging! I hope to foster independence, creativity and kindness. As a class we will seek to embrace challenges, employing a 'Growth Mindset' by appreciating struggles and learning from setbacks. We’ll create projects, solve problems, collaborate in teams and learn to take pride in our work.

I look forward to working as a team with parents, students and fellow Solana Ranch staff to ensure a rich year of learning and growth.

Sincerely,

Jordan Einbinder
