AB 2534 Employment History Disclosure Requirement
Solana Beach School District is in compliance with Education Code 44939.5 (as amended by Assembly Bill 2534) that requires all applicants for a certificated position to provide a complete list of all prior employment with school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, and state special schools for the purposes of verifying employment history, including obtaining information from previous employers regarding credible allegations, investigations, or disciplinary actions related to egregious misconduct, as defined by Education Code Section 44932.

Benefits at a Glance
Solana Beach School District offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees and their eligible dependents as follows:
For Health and Welfare benefit coverage information, please visit the Collective Bargaining Agreements located here.
The amount that an employee may be required to pay for coverage is adjusted annually. These amounts are provided during the October open enrollment period. Any required employee contribution is made through automatic payroll deduction on a ten-month basis, September through June.
Eligible employees may also choose to participate in a Health Care and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
NEW! 2026 Employee Benefits Guide
Effective Date of Coverage
An employee’s coverage under the District-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans becomes effective as follows:

Employees hired with a start date between the 1st and 15th of the month — Benefits will become effective on the first day of the month following the first day of paid service. EXAMPLE: An employee starting on August 10th would become eligible for benefits on September 1st.

Employees hired and starting work after the 15th of the month — Benefits will become effective the first day of the second full month of paid service. EXAMPLE: An employee starting on August 26th would become eligible for benefits on October 1st.
All enrollment forms must be received in the Personnel Services Office no later than 10 business days after the date of hire.
Employee Assistance Programs
Employee Assistance Service for Education (EASE)
The San Diego County Office of Education's EASE is a valuable resource for all full- and part-time employees of SBSD, as well as their household members. This program, provided by Evernorth, offers a range of support services, including mental health counseling, legal consultation, and financial counseling.
Employees and their household members can access up to six (6) counseling and problem-solving sessions per occurrence, per year, and referrals to additional community resources when necessary. All sessions with EASE counselors are strictly confidential, in accordance with the law and sound ethical practice. The only exceptions to confidentiality are those mandated by California law, such as child abuse reporting or danger warnings.

Optum Emotional Wellbeing Solutions (formerly Optum EAP)
SBSD employees with district-provided medical insurance, under California Schools VEBA, have access to the Optum Emotional Wellbeing Solutions (EWS) benefit, which offers confidential support for personalized care and self-help resources. Optum’s experts assist with a variety of issues, including stress management, life events such as divorce, and legal matters. VEBA members are entitled to five (5) free visits per concern, ensuring access to tailored support when needed.
