Dear Carmel Creek Families,
It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of our 2019-2020 school year. The closing of our year together, is certainly not what we expected. I am very proud of our students for their adaptability and resilience during this time. Thank you to our parents for your support, patience, perseverance, good insight, sharing of resources and kindness. Thank you to our dedicated staff who have been committed to the creation of distance learning experiences that are grade and age level appropriate and in alignment with the essential California State Standard Skills. There have been ups and downs in our personal lives and in the field of education. It is because of our integrity, our fortitude, collective efforts and compassion that we can close the year knowing we have all truly done our very best always keeping our kids wellness central to each decision we make.
Although our 2019-2020 distance learning journey, is nearing a close, COVID-19 health and safety parameters remain in place. Those include, but are not limited to: social distancing, no group gatherings, use of masks, and the use of gloves to receive and distribute materials. While we would love to have face to face year end celebrations, a special parade send-off, a playground picnic or our annual PTO year-end celebration, current County Health and Safety restrictions do not allow for public or private gatherings. We are planning our year-end events is accordance with current mandatory restrictions and will therefore look forward to some fun, family centered virtual activities during the week of June 8- June 12th. As San Diego County restrictions begin to loosen, we need to be mindful of staff and community members who themselves are at risk or have an immediate family member with compromised health. For this reason, we have to pause on group public events in or around our school building. We certainly do look forward to the 2020-2021 school year with hope that we can return to what is familial including our beloved Carmel Creek community events and traditions. Next week, you will receive detailed information on materials drop off and pick up procedures. We are intending our drop off and pick up to be a drive thru process on Thursday June 11, 2020. There will be a walking option. However, if a family prefers to walk, please consider sending one member from the household. More details will follow including traffic procedures and class materials and drop off time frames.

Thank you for supporting one another during this extraordinary season in our lives.
