Dear Carmel Creek Families,
Social Emotional Learning
As you may recall, our staff, members of PTO, ELAC and School Site Council have been reading All Learning is Social and Emotional: Helping Students Develop Essential Skills for the Classroom and Beyond. One of the authors, Nancy Frey will be speaking on Wednesday February 5th from 6 to 9pm at Solana Pacific. Childcare will be provided. The presentation is titled: “Spotlight on Social and Emotional Learning for SBSD Families.” Please refer to the flyer on Peachjar for more detailed information.
Carmel Creek is participating in a pilot research program exploring the Sanford Harmony and Sanford Inspire materials. This program is made possible through the generous philanthropic donation of Mr. T Denny Sanford. Mr. Sanford is devoted to enhance programs that support children’s well-being and we are thrilled to be a part of this effort. Mr. Sanford’s donation supports the ongoing social emotional research efforts through National University and Johns Hopkins University. As we continue to enhance our venues to build healthy relationships and create supportive environments you will be learning more about our integration of the Sanford Harmony materials. Your child may already be speaking about their “Harmony Buddy” or their participation in class meetings or “Meet Ups”. Staff and students are enjoying the materials thus far.
The intradistrict open enrollment request process provides Solana Beach School District families the opportunity to attend a school other than their school of residence. The parents/guardians of each school-age child who is a resident of the Solana Beach School District may apply to transfer their child to any district school, regardless of the location of their residence within the district (Ed Code 35160.5). The intradistrict open enrollment request window opens February 3, 2020 and closes on February 21, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. All families who apply will be notified if their request is granted during the week of April 15, 2020. For more information and to sign up electronically, please click here. If you have any questions, please contact Student Services at 858-794-7187.
Please do not hesitate to call the office if we can be of assistance in anyway.
