Hour of Code
This week all students participated in the Hour of Code. You may have seen a certificate supporting your child’s achievement with coding in their backpack. Our kindergarten and first grade students utilized Kodadle and our second and third grade students had a choice to explore Code.org or Scratch.
Millions of students in more than 180 countries participated in the Hour of Code. Tutorials are available in over 45 languages. The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science. It was designed to break barriers in the process to demystify “code” and empower the perspective that anyone can learn the basics of code and enhance the understanding of the many related computer science fields world-wide. We are fortunate to have the collective visions of our well-trained teachers and staff and their tireless efforts to bring coding opportunities to our students weekly.
It has been exciting to see students highly engaged in activities that promoted partner pairing, sharing computers, collaboration, communication and working together. If you are interested in more information on the value of coding, I invite you to click on the links:
PTO Family Giving
Thank for the many donations to support our local families during this holiday season. Our PTO are very busy wrapping the most generous collection of gifts. Families will receive gifts next week. Thanks to all!
