• Mrs. Ryder's Message

    Dear Carmel Creek Families,

Research suggests that screen time and media exposure impact children’s development socially, emotionally and even physically. In a rapidly changing digital world, the task of making decisions regarding social media, movies and apps can be challenging.

I would like to share a wonderful resource on digital citizenship with you regarding the use of the technology at home.  Common Sense Media https://www.commonsensemedia.org

offers both parents and educators resources and reviews on popular apps, updated research and much more.  If you have not explored this site, there are several resourceful topics you may want to look into.  Some, but not all topics include:

    • Device Free Dinner Time
    • App and Movie Reviews
    • How To Talk With Children About Difficult Subjects
    • Violence In The Media
    • Screen Time
    • Special Needs and Learning Difficulties
    • Character Strengths and Life Skills
