Here is an update of what’s happening with SH PTA!

2009-2010 PTA Slate – The nominating committee chaired by Emily Deere did an amazing job recruiting next year’s PTA slate and the new slate was elected at our last general meeting (April 16). Thank you to all the parent volunteers for stepping up and getting involved. Check out who’s who in the 2009-10 PTA (pdf, 65 kb). There are still some open slots. If you would like to get involved, please contact Claudia.

STAR Testing Healthy Snacks – For the week of May 4 - 8, PTA volunteers will be providing healthy snacks during first recess (10-11am) to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders. We wish all the kids a wonderful week of testing.

School Assemblies – The last assembly, The Amazing Bubble Man, is scheduled for May 11. The PTA has gotten great feedback from students and teachers for all the assemblies. A big thank you goes to Kim Muchnick for organizing these wonderful assemblies this year!

Staff Appreciation – The “Staff Appreciation Week” is scheduled for May 18 – 22. The committee is busy planning the week. Look for more information on how you can help.

Summer Splash – Come join the great carnival fun on Friday, May 29, 5-7pm. This is a fun event for everyone. Look for more details in the weekly electronic postings. We will be asking for parent as well as high school volunteers to help with the event. If you would like to get involved with ticket sales, helping out with booths … please contact Christa Evashko.

Family Fun Night – Our last Family Fun Night is on Thursday, June 4 at Red Robin. Come out and support your school. It’s great fun to spend time with friends and take time off from cooking! Look for RR flyers in the weekly electronic postings for more details.

Field Day – is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 12-2:30pm. This is a wonderful event for students, and teachers, as well as parents. So, get involved and spend some great outdoor fun. Contact Andrea Macdonald if you can help.

Yearbook - Suzanne Lopez-Calleja has been working hard ALL YEAR taking pictures, putting the yearbook pages together and taking purchase orders for the yearbook. If you haven’t purchased a copy, please contact Suzanne immediately.

On behalf of Solana Highlands PTA, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all PTA volunteers who have worked hard all year to make SH a great place for our kids. I had an amazing year working with so many wonderful parents. I will miss it next year! It’s been a pleasure serving Solana Highlands as your PTA President.
