Dear Solana Santa Fe Parents:
The philosopher John Dewey once said, “If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.” The future is in the hands of our children and it is up to us to prepare them for it.
Announcing
The PTO and Technology drives are the two annual fundraising efforts at our school. The PTO funds programs such as art, music, science and PE, and the Technology Drive funds our technology needs.
Lisa O’Coyne, PTO President says, "Technology is moving faster than ever! I'm thankful that my children attend a school where they have the opportunities to grow and learn along with this fast-changing digital landscape. Together, the Foundation for Learning's technology focus and the PTO's curriculum enrichment programs provide the resources that make SSF such an amazing school."
Because of our successful Technology Drive last year, we were able to launch an exciting pilot program using mobile devices (iPod Touches and iPads) in the 4th grade classrooms and media center. The program is a huge success. As one fourth grader said, “It’s so much fun using the iPad in class!” Another simply said two words, “Google Earth.” There is a two-minute video so you can see the program in action!
If we meet our financial targets with the drive this year, we will be able to expand the pilot (and educational opportunity) to more grade levels by purchasing and supporting additional class sets of mobile devices. We will also be able to fund applications, staff development, and tech support for the expansion while repairing and replacing existing technology across the campus.
To better equip our children for the future, we are asking each family to donate at least $250 to support these efforts.
If you can’t give at the requested level, please participate at any level. We are striving for 100% participation. Every child at Solana Santa Fe will benefit and your generosity will make a difference at our wonderful school.
