After School Programs and Extended Daycare

The RSF Community Center will be providing after school programs and extended daycare. However, this program is housed at the RSF Community Center – they will provide transportation from SSF to the community center. Please contact them at (858) 756-2461 for more information.

Lunch Program

Hot lunches are available for $3.25. It is recommended that you purchase a lunch card which is available as an annual card ($585), semi-annual card ($292.50), 60-meal card ($195), or 30-meal card ($97.50). Purchasing the lunch card eliminates the hassle of finding change, carrying money to school, and lost money problems for the children. Moreover, children with lunch cards are able to move through the lunch line much quicker.

Medication

If your child needs medication during the school hours, the law requires a written statement from the prescribing physician as well as the parent. This form is available in the school office. No medication will be administered to the student, by school personnel, unless this form is properly completed and on file in the school office. Also, medication must be in the original container. Medications will be maintained in a locked cabinet in the school health office. Children are NOT to have medication with them at any time. Please do not put medication in your child’s backpack.

Messages, Homework, Lunches

If you need to deliver messages, homework, and/or lunches to your child after the school day has begun, please leave the items in the school office. We can deliver the items causing minimal interruption to the classroom. Please communicate dismissal procedures to your child before dropping them off for school. On those rare occasions when plans change, please call the office before 12:00 Noon. Remember, the delivering of these messages disrupt children's learning, so please communicate your plans before the school day.

Parking

Please note that the business park/shopping center across the street has requested that we NOT use their parking lot during business hours. We thank them for their generosity in the past. However, they have achieved full occupancy and need all of their spots for their tenants and customers. Thank you for honoring their request. We realize that parking is at a premium – Thank you for your understanding.

School Hours

School Hours are from 8:30 am - 2:38 pm. Students are allowed on the playground no earlier than 8:10 am. There is no supervision before this time. Also, students must be picked up after school no later than 3:00 pm. There is no supervision after this time. Office hours are from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. You may leave a message on the school's answering machine before or after these hours.

Student Appointments/Checkouts

Missed class time has a direct impact on student achievement. Whenever possible, please avoid appointment/checkout times before 2:38 pm. This will minimize classroom interruption and increase time on task. Please remember that students must be signed out at the office.

Student Pick-Up and Drop-Off

Please follow the traffic procedures outlined in the Traffic Flow Plan. Have you considered car pooling?

Tardiness

Late arrival has a direct impact on student learning since the first few minutes of the day are moments when important instructions are given to the students. Students will be held accountable for the time that they are late and your child's classroom teacher will explain the consequences for being late to school. A student who arrives after the 8:30 am bell due to a medical or dental appointment will be considered an excused tardy.

Volunteers

You are encouraged to volunteer in your child's classroom. Volunteers must sign the Volunteer Log in the front lobby before reporting to their assignment. It is imperative that we have a log of ALL persons on campus. If there were an emergency, or we needed to reach you, this log will inform us of who is on campus at any given moment. All volunteers must wear a volunteer badge, have a volunteer form for 08/09 on file and a current TB shot on file. Visitors must also sign in with the office and wear a badge while on campus.
