The goal of the Art Program
at Solana Santa Fe is to help the students think visually and be aware of
visual ideas; to reinforce the visual art experience with a hands-on project
designed to teach the technique and style of a specific artist working in
a particular medium. The year culminates with at least one piece of art work.
In so doing, it is our hope that the magical world of art will be open to
them for the rest of their lives.
A well-rounded
education is not complete without a basic appreciation for the world of
Art and that is what the Solana Santa Fe Art Program is giving our children.
A separate room is set aside where our students are given hands-on instruction
in a variety of mediums.
The program
starts in Kindergarten with lines and then builds on this foundation by
introducing a different art element each year. In first grade the focus
is on shape, second grade on color, third grade on perspective, fourth
grade on texture, fifth grade on form, and in sixth grade on composition.
Additionally they learn about famous artists and their works.
