Playground Rules
  1. Follow adult directions the first time.
  2. Leave all personal play equipment at home.
  3. Be courteous: do not use put-downs or rude/inappropriate language or actions.
  4. Use equipment the way it was designed to be used, i.e. jump ropes for jumping only.
  5. At the end of recess, carry balls and equipment to the ball cart. DO NOT kick balls at the end of recess. Never kick a ball indiscriminately into a crowd. No dodge ball.
  6. Bounce balls against backboards or designated utility buildings only, NOT classroom walls! Balls are not allowed in the lunch table area.
  7. Safety first! Use equipment safely and play safely. This means:
    • No pushing on any equipment.
    • Climb on climbing wall, NO JUMPING—DO NOT JUMP FROM WALL! Do not touch other students who are climbing.
    • Four students may stand on “Super Nova” at a time.
    • On Spinning Apparatus*, two students are allowed on large spinners, two students are allowed on smaller spinners. Do not push students on any of the spinners. No sitting on top of the spinners. (*Surf Spinners)
    • No chasing or running in tan bark areas. No jumping from metal structures.
  8. No fighting, including play fighting, or contact sports.
  9. Play in designated areas only, not past the red lines or on the hillsides or behind fences.
  10. Only one student on the zip line at one time. No pushing another student on the zip line.
  11. Do not pull up any plants, walk through planted area; do not throw fruit or wood chips.
 
Snack Recess
  1. Students should be escorted to the snack area.
  2. Snacks must be eaten at the tables, not in transit or on the playground.
  3. Use trashcans for litter! Our goal is a clean playground and a clean school.
 
Lunch Rules
  1. Food must be eaten at lunch tables, not on the playground. Students should be escorted to the lunch area. Those buying hot lunch will get in line, those who bring their lunches may go directly to the tables.
  2. Students may eat at any table and are not required to sit by class.
  3. At the end of the eating period, about 15 minutes, aides will blow a whistle and students must stop talking and listen to directions. Students in the second lunch must wait until the first lunch students have lined up before they are excused.
  4. At the end of the lunch period, students will be asked to gather up all litter and throw it into trashcans before they leave the lunch area.
  5. If students are to return to the classroom or study hall, they need a pass signed by the teacher to enter the building.
