Welcome to Skycast, a weekly news program written, performed and produced by the students of Skyline Elementary School. This production reinforces our community of learners by providing cross-curricular and cross-age interaction. Our weekly show is approximately 7 to 10 minutes long and is shown throughout the campus at three different times during the day. Our multi-grade program incorporates age-level-appropriate participation from all the students and special needs students participate with their peers. Our weekly show features: |

All classes are assigned participation dates at the beginning of each school year. Classroom and director teachers work together with students to select, write and practice their part for the weekly broadcast. Each week approximately 18 students are involved with the production of a single Skycast show. Throughout the year, all students will have the opportunity to participate. We have a pool of 4 to 6 sixth- grade producers whose sole purpose is to aid in production. They rotate so that two producers assist at each taping. In addition, we have 2 to 4 student interns from grade 5 who help in each production. Each weekly show rehearsal is approximately one hour, early in the week and shooting for the showis approximately 40 minutes two days later. Student reports should be approximately 30 to 60 seconds in length, highlighting important information for the audience. Primary students must memorize their lines, but student reporters need only be familiar with their material, because they use a TelePromTer. Students are evaluated on voice and expression, quality of information and technical ability. |
