Awareness and preparation for any disaster is of utmost importance.
By knowing about any disaster, and the steps should be taken,
the effects of the disaster can immensely be reduced. Knowing
how to prepare for a disaster, how to deal with it and how to
recover from it is the key. American
National Red Cross has
created a web page in 14 different languages (Arabic, Chinese,
English, Farsi, French, Hmong, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Russian,
Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese) for disaster preparedness.
The County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services is also responding to the recent disaster crisis by promoting its Family Disaster Plan, Personal Survival Guide, and various DVD for disaster preparedness.
In addition, the Office of Emergency Services in collaboration
with Team Safe-T and American Red Cross has created an entire emergency
preparedness curriculum for grades K-12. The integrated lesson
plans, discussion topics, activities and take home materials are
available at no cost to all California schools
at the Team
Safe-T website.
