Dear Parents:
We all want 2012 to be a safe and healthy year. It’s
sometimes easy to forget the importance of school safety, so I’ve
listed a few reminders that will make Carmel Creek a safer place for every
student.
- Strangers are not allowed on campus; therefore, it is necessary
for volunteers and visitors to ALWAYS enter through
and sign in at the office upon arrival to school.
While on campus volunteers and visitors must wear a sticker badge to help
staff members identify you.
- Remember when walking to school, cross the
street in the crosswalks only.
- Follow all traffic
laws and never make a U-turn around our school.
- Be aware of the traffic flow policies and thank those adults trying
to enforce them!
- Parents are not allowed in the lunch area for lunchtime
visits.
- Call 911 or WeTip (1-800-78-CRIME) if you
see ANY suspicious activity in and around our school.
Reporting such activity is important, not only before or after school,
but also during the school day.
- In case of an emergency, the Solana Beach
School District has set up a “school messenger” system that will contact you
by telephone to instruct you of our plan of action.
- YOU can make a difference
at Carmel Creek, we are looking for volunteers
to help with morning and afternoon supervision. Please call the front office
if you’re interested.
As you enter the “school zone,” remember that you hold the physical
and emotional safety of 550 children in your hands. Slow down, show respect,
act with kindness, and follow the laws and rules of our community. Your
example will make a difference!
Thank you,
Terri Davis
Principal
FROM THE PTA
CREATIVE LEARNING THROUGH DRAWING ASSEMBLY The Carmel Creek PTA
is pleased to bring Jon Pearson to the school for
a student assembly this Thursday, February 9th.
Jon's fast-paced, high-energy programs transform
the drawing process into an amazing reading, writing
and memory tool that helps students:
SEE what
they think,
PICTURE what they read,
ENERGIZE what
they write, and
DOUBLE their learning across the curriculum.
Jon Pearson,
a featured speaker for the California PTA Convention,
is an author, cartoonist, learning-skills consultant and winner of the
Professional Artists in Schools Award who
teaches a unique way of learning that has worked with over one million
students! His technique helps raise test scores naturally. Be sure
to ask your child how they enjoyed the assembly this Thursday...this should
be a fun program with powerful results!
